RALEIGH, N.C. — An active search remains underway in Raleigh for whoever shot two men on Thursday morning outside a Biscuitville on Wake Forest Road.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers around 6 a.m. responded to a shooting on Wake Forest Road at Hodges Street, in front of Biscuitville. The entire intersection was closed and taped off with crime scene tape.

Police said two men were taken to a hospital; one had serious injuries and the other had non-life-threatening injuries.

Transcripts of 911 calls that poured in from people in the area give a clearer view on events surrounding the shooting.

A caller from Biscuitville said a man had been shot and was laying in the middle of the road, right in front of Biscuitville.

"His face. He was shot in the face," said one caller, who called around 5:56 a.m.

"There was two cars. There was two guys in one car. One guy took off into the woods. There's one guy shot in the face. The other guy took off," said the caller.

The scene had an SUV covered in bullet holes and splattered with blood. The caller said they heard eight or nine shots, and two vehicles started racing out of the area. One of the cars drove away after the shooting, the caller said.

Another caller, who said he was at 807 Hodges St., said, "There was just some gunfire at the club across the street" and that "people are leaving the club now."

The caller also said they heard around eight gunshots.

WRAL's Sky5 flew over the scene, where an SUV was riddled with bullets-- and stained with blood. The SUV had crime scene tape around it, and one of the doors was wide open.

Wake Forest Road was closed between Creekside Drive and Hodges Street for the entire morning commute.

Raleigh police officers were looking for a suspect who they believe is at-large. They believe the incident was isolated and there is no danger to the public.

Local businesses riddled with bullet holes, employees scared for their lives

Raleigh police data shows in the last year there has been 26 crime reports on that block alone.

Those who own businesses near the shooting said they are scared for their lives. Many of the businesses in the Paula Street area are riddled with bullet holes still. Police have yet to catch the person or people responsible for the shooting as of Friday afternoon.

One business owner says his camera captured two speeding cars. He has turned it over to police.

"I came to my office said what in the world is going on?" he said. "There were bullet casings everywhere."

One man who owns properties on this street, where several clubs sit, said he is too scared to show his face, or use his real voice for fear of retaliation.

"There is nowhere in Raleigh I'm aware of any more dangerous than right here," he said. "It's like we have accepted the fact there is gonna be a shooting here."

He and other witnesses tell WRAL News the shooting started at Victory Raleigh, which used to be Club Dreams, where in August of last year six teens were shot. The owner of Victory Raleigh disputes the witnesses, and says his business wasn't open at the time. There are several clubs in the area.

A spokesperson from Biscuitville said: “Biscuitville employees and customers were not involved in this incident. Our team helped one of the injured parties call 911 for medical help. We have closed our restaurant for the day and are cooperating with law enforcement as they investigate this incident.”

Police at first thought a crash nearby on I-440, which happened around the same time as the shooting, was related – but later said it wasn't.
