Sheriff: Woman found dead from accidental shooting in Siler City

The Chatham County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting from overnight that appeared to be accidental.

SILER CITY, N.C. — The Chatham County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting from overnight that appeared to be accidental.

Shortly after midnight on Sunday, Chatham County deputies responded to a report of an accidental shooting at an address off of Jessie Bridges Road in Siler City.

Once on scene, deputies found 38-year-old Patricia Stanley of Cary deceased in an RV. The sheriff's office said Stanley had sustained a single gunshot wound.

A man at the scene is cooperating with investigators, who said there is no threat to the public.

Authorities haven't released the name of the man or what, if any, relation he has to Stanley.
