RAEFORD, N.C. — Hoke County authorities arrested a Raeford man last week on new charges stemming from the March sexual assault of three girls.

Roy Allen Collins, 59, of 109 Redberry Lane, lured the girls into his home to help him move furniture, Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said Tuesday. Once they were inside, investigators said, Collins locked the door, demanded that the two older girls remove their clothing and "model" for him while the youngest girl, an 8-year-old, watched.

He threatened to kill the victims if they did not do what he wanted and sexually assaulted the older girls in front of the 8-year-old, Peterkin said. After the assault, Collins allegedly gave them cigarettes and again threatened to kill them if they told anyone.

Several days later, Collins offered $20 to one of the girls in exchange for sex, but she refused, Peterkin said.

Authorities initiated their investigation after a 911 call on April 19, about one month after the alleged assaults. In May, they charged Collins with first-degree statutory sexual offense, attempted second-degree statutory sexual offense, two counts of indecent liberties with a minor and two counts of first-degree kidnapping.

After further investigating the assaults, Collins was charged with participating in the prostitution of a minor, attempted statutory rape of a child and indecent liberties with a minor on Oct. 13.

He was being held Tuesday under a $50,000 bond at the Hoke County jail.
