Two people were injured early Wednesday in a Zebulon house fire.



<b>ZEBULON, N.C.</b> — Two people were badly injured early Wednesday morning in a Zebulon house fire.

Firefighters responded to the home on Karial Court, off Old Bunn Road and not far from Zebulon Elementary School, before 2:30 a.m. Flames were still showing from the back of the house at 4:30 a.m., and the fire was extinguished around 5 a.m.

Officials said two females of unknown ages were rescued from the home and taken to WakeMed with life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters said the home was likely a total loss.

Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker was also at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it doesn't appear to be suspicious.

They're great at it. Uh, so we're able to get to, uh, persons that were inside out and transported off don't have a current update, but of obviously been consumed by fire. Oh, you know, they were not in the best of shape health wise from the fire being inside. So hopefully they'll make it through, uh, pray that they do again. Just want thio, uh, take the time to acknowledge, You know, this is what we do. Serving and protecting Chief Fire Department have always been no excellent and getting here trying to make things safe for us to investigate. So Oh, it's very unfortunate with things that are going on right now in our world. I hate to see these type of things happen right here. The holidays? Absolutely. So when it comes to the investigation, what are you able to tell us? So far, we've seen the way County Sheriff's deputies right alongside the firefighters out here. What do you know? Obviously, it will begin to fire Marshal's office trying determine cause and origin. Also, Thio get the persons identified, uh, locate next of kin so we could notify them. Has taken place eso. As a result of that, I'm not able to provide you with identity of those persons who inside right now. But once we get a little bit more information, another file, any immediate family members, then we'll be able to release that information. Okay? And I understand it's pretty early on in the investigation of any reason to believe that anything suspicious happened unable to with a comment on it right now, from the surface of it, I would say no. Um, it's cold, so, you know, it could be a number of things, so I won't. I won't speak out on him because way that remains to be determined. Way you don't see all the time on a call. What was important for you to be out here this morning? Well, hey, you know, things is what I signed up for. You know, this calendar is very important. I've been a member of office for 30 years. Chief has been serving here seven for a t least 30 or more on. Uh, you will. These are the unfortunate calls that we have to come to. Saw some of your God the way it is. It's Our guys were continually monitor the house for any smoldering spots. Right now, they're trying to protect everything in the house without damaging. So the investigators could do their job. Once the investigation is complete way can more thoroughly sift through those ashes and getting those hot spots out. We want to take care not to disturb anything to leave. Plenty for the investigators to work with it. And then, uh, for the future will be, um, hear from either the sheriff's office.
