Cedar Grove, N.C. — Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said the wider community had no reason for worry Saturday as his deputies investigated an early morning stabbing.
Deputies were called around 8 a.m. to 5705 Green Pine Road and found 50-year-old Anthony Latta. The call was initially reported as cardiac arrest.
"Any loss of life is unfortunate; however, this does not appear to be a random act of violence," Blackwood said in a statement.
Investigators identified Mori Farrell Jr, of 221 Sawmill Road in Cedar Grove, as a suspect in the crime and issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge of first-degree murder.
Blackwood said the stabbing might be linked to drugs.
“All too often the crimes we investigate have a linkage to the sale and use of illegal narcotics,” he said.
