RALEIGH, N.C. — Shaw University announced in May it will require new and returning students to prove they have received a COVID-19 vaccine before they can enroll for the fall semester.
Duke University has also mandated vaccines, but other schools, including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and N.C. State University, have not.

Shaw's policy includes all students, including undergraduate, graduate and professional students in all degree programs who plan to be on campus.

Religious and medical exemptions will be allowed with documentation, Shaw said.

The university will also continue relying on social distancing, enhanced cleaning, remote opportunities, Plexiglas barriers, coronavirus testing and restrictions on some events to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
