Oct. 26th Flight of Honor

Major Alvin W. Meers, United Air Force, P.O.W. He is now 91 years old, (Born in 1920) and was chosen to go on the Flight of Honor on Oct. 26th. He was a Bombardier in a B-17 plane. (The Homesick Angel) stationed in Italy. On a mission, their plane got shot down over Yugoslavia. He was taken as a prisoner by the Germans. After 11 months in a P.O.W. camp (Stalag Luft 3), General Patton liberated his camp. He is very lucky to be alive today, and we are very proud of him.
