Sex offender arrested near Cary elementary school
Cary police arrested a registered sex offender they say was loitering too near an elementary school last Friday, according to an arrest warrant.

CARY, N.C. — Cary police arrested a registered sex offender they say was loitering too near an elementary school last Friday, according to an arrest warrant.
The warrant states that David Knowles, 57, of 8606 Chapel Hill Road, was caught within 95 feet of an occupied elementary school. Children were leaving school for the day.
He was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
Knowles convicted in 2005 of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor for a 2001 incident in Pitt County, according to the NC Sex Offenders Registry. He served four years and five months in prison and was released in January 2010.
