Sex offender arrested for 'sexually inappropriate' conversation with kids at Apex park

A Raleigh man, who is on the sex offender registry, was arrested after a witness told police they heard him having an "sexually inappropriate conversation" with two children at an Apex Park, according to a warrant.

APEX, N.C. — A Raleigh man, who is on the sex offender registry, was arrested after a witness told police they heard him having a “sexually inappropriate conversation” with two children at an Apex Park, according to a warrant.

Apex police charged 36-year-old Jonathan Hartgrove of Raleigh with being a sex offender with a on child premises and possession of drug paraphernalia.

This incident happened at 1280 Ambergate Station, which is the address of the Skate Park and the Hunter Street Park.

Hartgrove was previously charged with third degree sexual exploitation of a minor, charges often associated with possessing child pornography. Records also show numerous drug convictions.

Hartgrove is also charged with violating probation.
