Cumberland County detectives charged a registered sex offender with raping a teenager multiple times over more than a year.

<b>FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.</b> — Cumberland County detectives charged a registered sex offender with raping a teenager multiple times over more than a year.

A 14-year-old girl told investigators that Ivan Sylvestre Austin, of 620 River Front Lane, in Fayetteville, forced her to have sexual relations with him for more than a year.

Detectives arrested Austin on Thursday and charged him with seven counts each of indecent liberties with a child, statutory rape of a person younger than 15 and sexual act by a substitute parent.

Austin was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $700,000 bond. His first court appearance was set for Friday at 9 a.m.
