Sex Charges Against Former Teacher Dropped
Indecent liberties charges against a former teacher at a Catholic high school were dropped after the family of the victim refused to cooperate, court documents show.
In February, Justin David Scranton was charged with taking indecent liberties with a minor during the time he coached track and taught English at Cardinal Gibbons High School.
Prosecutors said they dropped charges against Scranton after the victim's family and other witnesses refused to further cooperate with the case. Felony indecent liberties charges carry a jail sentence of three months to a year.
Another teacher caught Scranton kissing and fondling a female student's breasts and buttocks, according to court documents. Police claimed in a search warrant that Scranton admitted to acting inappropriately with the student.
According to the same warrant, the victim alleged that other females previously complained about Scranton's conduct toward them.
Scranton worked at Cardinal Gibbons for seven years.
