Rain clears away, leaving a dry afternoon for the NC State Fair
Spotty showers and a chance for severe weather will dampen the final day of the North Carolina State Fair, but this evening should be dry.
Posted — UpdatedAccording to WRAL meteorologist Peta Sheerwood, most of the rain that fell Sunday morning and afternoon should be gone by early Sunday evening.
Much of North Carolina is under a level 1 or 2 risk for severe weather. Gusty winds, heavy rain and an isolated tornado will be likely at times, particularly northeast of the Triangle.
"Some storms could be strong to severe especially for counties northeast of the Triangle where there is a level 2 threat in place," Sheerwood said.
Sunday will be the warmest day of the week, with a high around 80 degrees in Raleigh.
Dry conditions return Monday, and temperatures will fall into the lower 70s for most of the week as a cold front moves through. Plenty of sunshine is expected until Wednesday or Thursday, when more rain could move in for Halloween.
