Severe thunderstorm warning canceled for Warren, Halifax, Vance counties

A line of strong storms blowing across central North Carolina sparked a handful of severe thunderstorm warnings early Tuesday morning around the Triangle.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A line of strong storms blowing across central North Carolina early Tuesday morning sparked a handful of severe thunderstorm warnings near the Triangle.

Warren and Halifax counties were both under the warnings issued before 6 a.m. by the National Weather Service. Vance County was briefly under a warning, too, but the NWS canceled it by 6:15 a.m.

The warning for Warren and Halifax were canceled just before 6:30 a.m.

WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said the storms could produce wind gusts up to 60 mph.
