Rainy conditions and slippery wet roads made for a sloppy Wednesday morning commute with several crashes and long delays.

A crash on Interstate 40 West near Exit 303 for Jones Sausage Road caused very heavy delays with backups all the way to the Clayton Bypass.

Another crash on I-40 West caused further delays, beginning at Exit 299 for Hammond Road, where the right lane was blocked by the involved vehicles, as well as multiple crews of first responders.

With two to three fire trucks and multiple police and first responders, crews were working to assess the situation and clear the accident.

It's unclear how many vehicles were involved in the crashes or whether there were injuries.

I-40 East was also impacted by a traffic accident, which was near Gorman Street.

With so many accidents and delays on the wet roads, officials encourage drivers to take it slow as they head to work.
