Second wave of performers announced for 2018 Hopscotch Music Festival

Miguel and Liz Phair will play this fall's Hopscotch Music Festival in downtown Raleigh, festival organizers announced Tuesday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Organizers of the 2018 Hopscotch Music Festival in downtown Raleigh announced a second wave of performers on Wednesday.

Headliners on the main stage include Miguel, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Grizzly Bear, The Flaming Lips and MC50 performing MC5’s ‘Kick out the Jams.' Liz Phair will also perform.

Other bands on the Hopscotch bill this year include The Revolution, Moses Sumney, Real Estate, Mipso, The Jayhawks, Waxahatchee, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, Red Fang, Gang Gang Dance, Body/Head, Grouper, Dvsn, US Girls, Hailu Mergia, Ought, The Love Language and dozens of others.

Brother Wayne Kramer, the founding guitarist of Detroit punk legends MC5, will also be performing at Hopscotch. He will be joined on stage by Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil on guitar, Fugazi’s Brendan Canty on drums, Dug Pinnick of King’s X on bass and Zen Guerrilla’s Marcus Durant as the frontman. The group will play MC5's debut album "Kick Out the Jams" in its entirety, as well as an encore set of MC5 material.

Previous Hopscotch headliners include Solange, Big Boi, Erykah Badu, Dwight Yoakum, De La Soul, Spoon, St. Vincent, The Roots and the Flaming Lips.

Hopscotch Music Festival will take place Sept. 6-8 at various venues in downtown Raleigh, including City Plaza and Red Hat Amphitheater.
