Second suspect arrested in murder of sleeping teenager

A second suspect has been arrested and charged in the murder of an 18-year-old who was sleeping.

ERWIN, N.C. — A second suspect has been arrested and charged in the murder of an 18-year-old who was killed by a stray bullet while sleeping.

At the request of the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, the Wake County Sheriff's Office Criminal Analysis and Apprehension Team conducted surveillance to locate and arrest Jaylan Jackson, 18, of Angier. He was found hiding in an apartment in the 300 block of Gargate Drive in Cary Friday night.

Jackson is charged with first degree murder, felony conspiracy to commit murder and 10 counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling. The murder charge is in relation to the death of Iyania Rhone, 18, as she slept in her Erwin home in Harnett County on March 23.

Baron Lee Lyons, 27, of Apex was arrested in Harnett County on May 22 on the same charges as Jackson.

Jackson was taken by to Harnett County by investigators for processing.
