16-year-old is second person charged in death of Siler City man

Arnold Jaramillo Lopez, 16, of Siler City was charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in the death of Esau Abraham Brenes.

SILER CITY, N.C. — A second person was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of a Siler City man.

Arnold Jaramillo Lopez, 16, of Siler City was charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in the death of Esau Abraham Brenes. Lopez was indicted by a Chatham County grand jury Wednesday.

Police said that Lopez is a known associate of Francisco Rivas Galves-Huezo, 21, of Siler City. Galves-Huezo was previously charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in the case.

Galves-Huezo, was reported missing on Oct. 24, the same day Brenes' remains were found near the edge of the wood line on Siler City Snow Camp Road. The remains of Galves-Huezo were found Tuesday near U.S. Highway 421 in Randolph County. An autopsy revealed that he suffered from multiple gunshot wounds.
