Second arrest made in Hope Mills double homicide
Deputies with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office have arrested a second suspect in a double homicide incident that happened March 21.
Posted — UpdatedXavier Emanuel Bethea, 20, of the 5000 block of Starbeam Drive in Fayetteville was taken into custody and is facing two counts of first degree murder, three counts of discharging a weapon into occupied property inflicting serious bodily injury, and one count each of attempted first degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Bethea is being held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center. His first court appearance is Monday.
Deputies arrested Sterling Straughter on Thursday. He is currently being held without bond on murder charges. Investigators said Cameron Emery and Franklin Monroe were killed on March 21. The two were found at the intersection of Ajax Drive and Tower Drive in Hope Mills.
A juvenile female was also shot and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment of her wounds.
