RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man accused of killing his wife and 2-year-old daughter posted a picture of their bodies online following their deaths, according to a search warrant released Thursday.

Elhadji Diop, 53, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Aminata Drame, 40, and Fatim Diop.

Police seized two cellphones, a box cutter, roach killer and electronics from the Farm Gate Road home where Drame and Fatim Diop were found dead on April 5.

Their bodies were discovered after Raleigh police officers were dispatched to the house to conduct a welfare check.

Upon arrival, police also found that Elhadji Diop had self-inflicted lacerations and had ingested toxic substances. He was taken to WakeMed and formally charged after being released.

Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman said after Diop's initial court hearing that she will pursue this case vigorously.

"It's a serious case," she said. "Anytime there is a child involved, it is a huge loss to our community. We are going to be taking this case very seriously."

Diop was granted a capital defender, and is being held in the Wake County Detention Center under no bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for May 8.
