Search for Orange County woman with dementia enters 2nd day

The Orange County Sheriff's Office issued a Silver Alert for a Maryanne Rosenman, 75, who officials say wandered away from her home between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday.

She suffers from dementia and had disappeared a few months ago but was found a short time later, officials said.

The sheriff's office said Rosenman lives north of Chapel Hill, in the Stoneridge, Turkey Farm, Whitfield Road section of the county.

Rosenman was last seen wearing a bluish-green nightgown and gray sneakers.

"We’ve had a ton of community support, which we’re grateful for," sheriff's office spokeswoman Alicia Stemper said.

"What we’re especially hoping that people will do is be not just diligent but aggressive in checking their properties for open doors, crawl spaces, under cars. Make sure, if your cars are open, you actually look in your car," Stemper said. "We need people to look for any details that someone might have passed through, [such as] if your dog barked this morning and doesn’t usually bark – anything out of the ordinary."

A man had called 911 on Wednesday and reported seeing Rosenman, officials said, and search dogs had picked up on her scent.

However, the K9s and searchers did not find Rosenman.
