HONOLULU, HI — Hawaii athletes in search of greatness this afternoon.

No better examples than Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett who was joined by Hawaii's own Deforrest Buckner of the 49ers at TC Ching Field.

Bennett, an Oahu native hosted the primary program of the Bennett Foundation.

The "OCEAN" camp - an acronym for the foundations of fighting obesity through community, education, activity and nutrition.

Hundreds of athletes, ranging from the objective of the OCEAN Health Fest is to educate the community on healthy food choices, provide affordable alternatives to cooking at home and promote physical fitness as a family.

The day began with a two-hour clinic where athletes learned about how to have a healthy lifestyle with their families.

Taking part in a health expo, a family fitness clinic.

It all wrapped up with two-hours of one-on-one, hands-on football related drills.

"I think it's everything. I think when you're a young kid, you want to touch your heroes and being in the position that we're in, we gotta be in contact with the youth to inspire them everyday. When we get a chance and we're in front of them and we're really down to earth, it just shows them that we are human beings at the core of everything. And us to share our experiences with them, and them to share theirs with us. It means everything to us and everything to them," Bennett said.

Island Sports asked Raysen Motoyama, a camp participant, what his favorite part of camp is so far.

"Just getting all the reps with everyone, getting to know everyone, and seeing all the NFL players that inspire us. It pushes us to do good, get our grades up, make us want to go to the NFL and do our dreams," Motoyama said.

Bennett's next project is releasing a children's book. Bennett and his wife, island native Pele Bennett have been working on the book together.

Campers got a sneak peek of the book during with a reading session with Michael. The books release date has not yet been announced.
