Scotland Neck man faces murder charge in shooting

A Scotland Neck man was being held Monday on a murder charge in an incident that killed one man and wounded a second at a house on N.C. Highway 903.

HALIFAX, N.C. — A Scotland Neck man was being held Monday on a murder charge in a killing at a house on N.C. Highway 903, the Halifax County sheriff's Office said.

A second man was wounded.

Allen Duane Peterson, 27, was in the Halifax County Jail without bond, charged in the death of Terrance Lamont Tillery, 19, Halifax County sheriff's deputies said.Deputies and Scotland Neck police arrested Peterson at his home without incident, they said.

He was scheduled for a court appearance on July 16.

Deputies found Tillery and Dontrail Lloyd shot when they answered a shooting call outside Scotland Neck on Saturday, Lt. B.L. Martin said. Emergency workers took them to Our Community Hospital, where Tillery died, he said.

Deputies arrested Peterson Saturday afternoon, Martin said.

Lloyd was wounded in the left ankle in the shooting and transferred from Scotland Neck to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, Martin said.
