School bus involved in wreck in Wayne County
A Wayne County school bus was involved in a wreck with a log truck and a pickup truck on N.C. Highway 111 South near N.C. Highway 581 on Thursday afternoon, the Highway Patrol said.
Posted — UpdatedTroopers said the school bus was making a right turn onto Worth Drive and deployed its stop arm. A pickup truck traveling behind it stopped, but a log truck following the truck did not. The log truck hit the pickup, swerved and then hit the bus, troopers said.
The two people who were riding in the pickup truck were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The driver and three students on the bus were not injured.
The log truck driver was charged with failure to reduce speed and passing a stopped school bus.
