Schedule released for Wide Open Bluegrass

The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)'s World of Bluegrass festival is happening this fall in downtown Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Additional performers and the schedule for International Bluegrass Music Association's Wide Open Bluegrass festival were released Monday.

Tommy Emmanuel with guests Bryan Sutton, Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley, and Jack Pearson and Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeer have been added to the bill this fall. Also Sam Bush and John Cowan were added as guests of Leftover Salmon in The Wide Open Jam

The schedule for the ticketed portion of the Wide Open Bluegrass Festival, which takes place at Red Hat Amphitheater Sept. 28-29, was also released.

Friday, Sept. 28
  • 2 – 2:45 p.m.     Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper
  • 3 – 3:45 p.m.      Flatt Lonesome
  • 4:15 – 5:45 p.m.  “The TRUST” featuring Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Balsam Range, Lonesome River Band, Donna Ulisse, Chris Jones & The Night Drivers, Sideline, and Love Canon
  • 6:15 – 7:15 p.m. Tommy Emmanuel with guests Bryan Sutton, Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, and Jack Pearson
  • 7:45 – 9 p.m.       The Earls of Leicester presented by Jerry Douglas
  • 9:30 – 11 p.m.     Special collaboration with Alison Brown, Becky Buller, Sierra Hull, Missy Raines, Molly Tuttle, and guest appearances by Gillian Welch, and Rhiannon Giddens
Saturday, Sept. 29
  • 2 – 2:45 p.m.     Volume Five
  • 3 – 3:45 p.m.      Laurie Lewis & Friends
  • 4:15 – 5:45 p.m.  The Gibson Brothers
  • 6:15 – 7:15 p.m. Chatham County Line & Friends: Mandolin Orange, Bobby Britt (of Town Mountain), Libby Rodenbough (of Mipso), Joe Newberry, and Mike Compton
  • 7:45 – 9 p.m.       Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, with guest appearance by Patty Loveless
  • 9:30 – 11 p.m.      Leftover Salmon presents The Wide Open Jam, with guests Sam Bush and John Cowan

Tickets are currently on sale, with a portion of proceeds going to the Bluegrass Trust Fund.

Wide Open Bluegrass also includes a free street festival.

Wide Open Bluegrass is part of IBMA's World of Bluegrass, which runs Sept. 25-29 in downtown Raleigh. The event also includes the IBMA Business Conference, the Bluegrass Ramble, an innovative series of showcases, the International Bluegrass Music Awards.

Organizers announced in May that the World of Bluegrass festival will remain in Raleigh through 2021.
