RALEIGH, N.C. — A beautiful Sunday could end with some scattered storms, according to WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze.

According to Maze, a cluster of scattered thunderstorms will move through the viewing area to the southeast late afternoon and into the evening.

Storms will be isolated and could pop-up without warning, particularly east of the Triangle. A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for Edgecombe, Nash and Wilson counties until 3:15 p.m.

"Watch the radar if you plan on being outside this afternoon," said Maze.

The feel of Monday will be similar to Sunday, with highs in the low 90s and a few isolated afternoon storms expected. However, unlike Sunday, a sizable part of the area will remain dry on Monday, said Maze.

Much like last week, a completely dry day can't be guaranteed this week, according to Maze. The work week will follow a similar pattern day after day, with sunshine and temperatures in the low 90s for most of the day and isolated storms in the evening.

Next weekend could be a bit cooler, with highs in the upper 80s.
