PORTLAND, OR — People posing as Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland workers are soliciting donations in southeast Portland.

Real club workers want people to know this is a scam.

The fraudulent solicitors were in the Woodstock neighborhood Tuesday handing out fliers and accepting cash donations, claiming the money would go toward music programs.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland staff members always wear identifying uniforms during club-affiliated activities and they do not solicit donations this way.

People are encouraged to verify if such a situation is legitimate by calling the organization's administrative offices at 503-232-0077.

Donations can be made at bgcportland.org, via mail or dropped off in person at any club location across the Portland-metro area.
