SC man charged with defrauding his friend at a local shag dance club out of more than $1 million

Clyde Murchison, 71, was arrested at his Taylors home this week. He's facing several fraud charges, including taking more than a million dollars from a Greenville man.

He's facing several fraud charges including taking more than a

million dollars from a Greenville man

The victim trusted Murchison because according to an affidavit he

knew him from a local shag dance club that meets

at the Brass Monkey in Greenville

It was there that Murchison convinced the victim into buying

morgen silver dollars from the Federal reserve

At this Wells Fargo Bank

The victim withdrew more than a million $35,000 from his

account and met Murchison at the cracker barrel restaurant in

powders ville where he handed over the money

But when no silver ever showed up in the victim's

Wells Fargo Bank account He started to get suspicious

That's when the 70 year old veteran called police

According to federal court records Murchison has been in trouble

before in texas Tennessee Georgia Mississippi and now south Carolina
