BRASSFIELD — A suspect died on Wednesday after being shot by a State Bureau of Investigation agent at a home in Granville County.

The arrest warrant was for first-degree statutory rape, four counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and disseminating obscenities to a minor. The search warrant was for production of child pornography.

Agents said when officials arrived, the suspect, who was armed, went inside the home. Franklin County SWAT, Wake Forest Police SWAT and an SBI Special Response Team were called to help take the suspect into custody.

After an 18-hour long standoff, the suspect approached the entrance of the home around 11 a.m. armed with a long gun, according to agents.

That's when an SBI agent shot the suspect, who died at the scene.
