<b>LILLINGTON, N.C.</b> — The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into allegations of prescription drug fraud against a state Highway Patrol trooper, authorities said Monday.

First Sgt. Tim Baldwin is on administrative duty, pending the results of the investigation, authorities said. He joined the patrol in 1992 and is based in its Lillington office.

Jennifer Canada, a spokeswoman for the North Carolina Department of Justice, said Sanford police asked the SBI last month to investigate possible "doctor shopping" by Baldwin.
