Sasha Neulinger put together a documentary that's coming to the big screen of his experience as a victim of child sexual abuse and how he found justice and healing.
He was in town Wednesday to headline a SAFEchild luncheon and tell his story in the form of a documentary called "Rewind" at Marbles Kids Museum on Thursday. The documentary will be shown at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The documentary begins with Neulinger's happy childhood that disintegrated into years of child sexual abuse at the hands of two uncles and a cousin. One of his uncles was eventually convicted.
Neulinger documents how the abuse started when he was just 4 years old -- that painful chapter in his life lasted four years.
Neulinger is in the Triangle sharing his story and stressing the importance of a child advocacy center, where a child can find resources and help in one place.
That wasn't the case for Neulinger, as he had to tell his story over and over again to countless law enforcement officers and in court. He credits a strong support system that got him through it.
“I was fortunate to get a lot of support, from my family, mental health professionals, from the detective, from the prosecutor, and because of that support that I received, I was able to understand the context of what happened to me and work through the trauma and heal,” said Neulinger.
As documented in his story and as a result of what he experienced, a child advocacy center was created, similar to the one operated here locally by SAFEchild.
