SANFORD, N.C. — Two people now face charges in the case of a Lillington man found shot to death last week in front of a Sanford home.

Marcel Lamar McNeill, 21, of 2753 Minter School Road, Sanford, and Laquan Maurice Thomas, 21, of 1317 Summerset Place, Sanford, were each arrested Saturday on charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in the Feb. 26 death of Chavez Lamar Spearman.

Sanford police found Spearman, 21, dead in his vehicle outside 2414 Shawnee Drive. He had been shot in the face.

Authorities said that McNeill also allegedly took a cellphone and a book bag from the Spearman by threatening him with a firearm.

Both men were being held without bond Sunday in the Lee County jail.
