SANFORD, N.C. — Investigators with the Chatham County Sheriff's Office say they suspect that a Sanford man is behind the thefts of as many as 20 all-terrain vehicles.

Robbie Knight has been charged with felony larceny in the thefts of two four-wheelers in the Bear Creek area on April 23.

Investigators said they are also eying Knight in connection to a string of ATV thefts in the past several months. He has been uncooperative, investigators said.

"Detectives have been working long hours in the investigation and received evidence last week that finally linked suspect Robbie Knight to the crimes," Maj. Gary Blakenship said in a statement.

More arrests are expected in the case.

Knight was placed in the Chatham County jail under a $95,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for July 26.
