Sampson County sheriff's deputies took a close look Monday at a yard near Roseboro, after a dog found bones that appeared to be human.

Capt. Eric Pope said a family on Andrew's Chapel Road reported their dog discovered what appeared to be human foot bones.

Deputies and local police identified the bones as those of a bear.
