Lots of people will be out shopping this weekend to take advantage of the state's annual sales tax holiday.

It's runs 12:01 a.m., Friday, to 11:59 p.m., Sunday, and exempts items such as clothing, shoes and school supplies of less than $100; sports and recreational equipment of $50 or less per item; and computers of $3,500 or less per item. In the Triangle, it's a savings of 6.75 percent.

Faye over at the WRAL Smart Shopper has some great tips for taking advantage of sales.
And here's the official word from the state revenue department on what is and isn't exempt from taxes.

Happy shopping!

Update: For all of you Lands' End lovers (and I know there are plenty reading), I'll share this: The Sears at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh will hold a special sale from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday. The after hours sale will include the opportunity to work with a personal shopper, a wine tasting, light refreshments, giveaways (including a Lands' End outfit up to $150) and a sale ($25 off $75).
