ROXBORO, N.C. — Roxboro police said they have arrested two South Carolina men and are searching for a third suspect in connection with a bank robbery late Tuesday afternoon.

Patrick Jackson, 25, and Ricardo Antonio Osuna, 22, both of Effingham, S.C., were charged with armed robbery and four counts of kidnapping.

Chief Todd Boycher said that a 911 caller reported a robbery at Carter Bank and Trust, 823 N. Main St., shortly before 5 p.m. Four employees were in the bank at the time but weren't injured.

Boycher said that an officer spotted a man in the parking lot and placed him in custody, then saw a second man running out of the bank, holding a pillowcase. The officer detained him and found that the pillowcase was full of money.

The first man managed to escape into a wooded area near the bank, but police surrounded the block and located him after a brief search, the chief said.

Police also found a car they believe was being used as a getaway vehicle, but didn't find a driver. Boycher said investigators are certain they will be able to identify the driver.

Jackson and Osuna were being held in the Person County Jail Thursday without bond.
