Rural home completely destroyed by fire near Fuquay-Varina
An overgrown and abandoned house caught fire late Monday night, bringing a large response from firefighters, EMS and the Wake County Sheriff's Office.

An overgrown and abandoned house caught fire late Monday night, bringing a large response from firefighters, EMS and the Wake County Sheriff's Office.
The home, which sits on a grassy lot on Piney Grove-Wilbon Road, just outside of Fuquay Varina, was reported to be on fire shortly before midnight.
Firefighters were still on the scene after 2:30 a.m., and the road, which had been closed down due to the fire, was reopened by around 3 a.m.
There was no one living in the home at the time of the fire, according to authorities.
