A new 5K training program just for moms will start this fall.

Raleigh Running Mamas is a branch of Stroller Strides of Raleigh, which meets at Crowder District  Park and Lake Johnson Park several times a week. The program starts Sept. 10 and runs through Nov. 19 with once a week group runs and a weekly training plan. The group will participate in a few fall runs and finish at the Apex Turkey Trot on Nov. 20.

Jen Kedrowski, who runs the program, tells me it's designed for beginners with little to no running experience. Strollers (with kids) are more than welcome, though moms can come on their own as well. The group will meet at 9 a.m. Fridays at Lake Johnson Park in Raleigh for official group runs and strength training
