News Philosophy: If it matters to you, it should matter to us.

Some of the most important aspects of morning news include getting your day started with information that is going to serve you throughout your day: News you shouldn't be without. News that will make you smarter, more insightful and maybe even protect you. And do it without wasting a moment of your time.

Education: B.A., University of Rhode Island

Birthplace: Milford, PA

Hobbies, Interests & Community Involvement: I am an avid endurance junkie (admission is the first step to recovery, right?), and I plan to continue punishing myself with triathlons and ultra-marathons in North Carolina.

I will skip workouts for golf, though, and if there is snowboarding anywhere in the Tar Heel State, I will find it!

I have championed many good causes and enjoy volunteering in a variety of ways, especially in programs that help differently-abled athletes reach their full potential.

Family & Pets: I am blessed with a beautiful wife, and we have 2 beautiful teenage daughters. We also have a golden retriever named Harley.

Favorite Books & Movies: I enjoy a good mystery (read or movie) as well as "Fletch."

Favorite Websites: Billleslie.com

Likes Best About North Carolina: Well, I wasn’t born here, but I got here as quickly as I could. I enjoy being an active part of the Raleigh community as well as meeting and telling the stories of as many of the fine folks of North Carolina as possible. I am striving for NC foodie status (practice, practice, practice) and touring beaches, mountains and trails around the state.

Most Memorable Assignments: The most memorable stories I've covered have been seared into me forever. The tragic school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, and the Boston Marathon bombing.

I much prefer stories that have a profound effect on viewers in a way they may not have expected.

Anything else people should know about you: I have jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. I love NC sweet tea, but I have never had a cup of coffee. I can’t solve a Rubik’s cube but I can juggle. I am an Ironman but I don’t have any tattoos. I always enjoy meeting people and hearing your amazing stories, so when you see me, please say Hi!
