ROXBORO, N.C. — State troopers say that alcohol and speed were factors in a wreck that killed a 16-year-old Roxboro girl and injured four others early Saturday.

The driver of a two-door 1994 Ford car going west on Denny's Store Road lost control of the vehicle near Lonnie Gentry Road around 1 a.m., troopers said. The car ran off the left side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned.

Victoria Elaine Clayton died of her injuries. Troopers said she was riding in the center of the backseat and was not wearing a seat belt.

The identities of the others involved in the wreck haven't been released. The extent of their injuries wasn't clear.
