— Rocky Mount police arrested a man they suspect in a shooting Friday night on Planters Street.

Demanchea Clevon Johnson, 22, was in Pitt County Memorial Hospital Saturday with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. According to police, he was in stable condition.

A witness told officers that the suspect, later identified as Charles Dickens, pulled up to Johnson in a Nissan Maxima, got out and yelled that Johnson owed him money, then shot him and drove away. Dickens was taken into custody Saturday afternoon.
