ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — On Friday, the Rocky Mount police arrested a man in connection to the double homicide on Construction Drive.

42-year-old Eric Coley was arrested on the 2900 block of Avalon Road and has been charged with first-degree murder.

Officers believe the two people, 24-year-old Destiny Wiggins and 28-year-old Devone Brown, were shot and killed inside the car right outside the business. Two children were also found in the car. They were both unharmed, but were taken to the hospital after being exposed to below-freezing temperatures overnight.

Rocky Mount police said the two "toddler-age" children spent hours in the cold in the backseat of a car overnight while two dead bodies were in the front seat.

The two children found in the car were Wiggins' daughters, her sister told WRAL News.

Coley's first court appearance is scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
