Rocky Mount Police investigating a shooting near Dollar General store

The Rocky Mount Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon in the area of a Dollar General store.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred between two cars, Thursday afternoon near a Dollar General store.

Police responded at 4:13 p.m. to a report of shots fired into an occupied vehicle at Dollar General on 2280 W. Raleigh Blvd.

During an investigation, it was determined that individuals from at least two vehicles discharged multiple rounds from firearms while driving east on West Raleigh Boulevard after leaving the store.

A vehicle traveling in the opposite direction was hit by gunfire, damaging the vehicle.

There were no injuries reported.

A section of West Raleigh Boulevard was temporarily closed off while officers searched for evidence. The roadway was reopened at 6 p.m.

An investigation of this incident is underway.
