Rocky Mount men run to escape shooting

Someone opened fire on two men standing outside along Gay Street who ran to escape injury early Friday, police said.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Someone opened fire on two men standing outside along Gay Street who ran to escape injury early Friday, police said.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in progress at 815 Gay St. shortly after 2 a.m. The men told police that they were standing next to a vehicle belonging to one of them when an unidentified man began firing at them and they ran.

Bullets struck the vehicle, a house and a trailer. No one was injured.

Police have not made an arrest in the shooting.
