GREENSBORO, N.C. — Two Rocky Mount men are facing fraud charges in Guilford County.

Investigators said on Wednesday that Cedric Renwood Pierce, 57, and Randall Scott Weeks, 38, tried to scam a 91-year-old woman, living on Wicker Street in Greensboro, out of $1,200 for chimney repairs.

Investigators said the men offered to repair damage to her chimney for $15, but after beginning work, they tore a hole in the woman's roof. The woman told investigators that she was then advised that the damage was worse than originally believed and that the cost would be $1,200.

Investigators said both men are employed by BRM Construction Company.

Pierce was also charged with exploitation of the elderly, malicious damage and obtaining property by false pretense, investigators said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on similar crimes was asked to call Greensboro Police Department’s Fraud Squad at 336-373-2255 or Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
