Rocky Mount man died of gunshot wound to neck

The body of Duwone Vondel Parker, 32, was found March 2 in some woods off Greystone Drive at the western edge of the city.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A man found dead near a Rocky Mount neighborhood in March died from a gunshot wound to the neck, according to an autopsy report released Monday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The body of Duwone Vondel Parker, 32, was found March 2 in some woods off Greystone Drive at the western edge of the city.

According to the report, his body had also been wrapped in plastic and duct tape and appeared to have been set on fire.

Matthew Keith Hutcheson is charged with first-degree murder in Parker's death.

Investigators haven't offered a possible motive in the case or said how the two men might have known one another.
