Rocky Mount man accused of shooting brother's leg

Rocky Mount police arrested Richard Antonio Carpenter, 26, after he allegedly shot his brother, James Benjamin Carpenter, 24, after an argument Friday morning.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police arrested Richard Antonio Carpenter, 26, after he allegedly shot his brother, James Benjamin Carpenter, 24, after an argument Friday morning.

The shooting happened around 4 a.m. in the 200 block of Park Avenue, police said.

James Carpenter was taken to Nash General Hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Richard Carpenter was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
