RED SPRINGS, N.C. — The Red Springs woman who was shot in the forehead while driving Friday has died, Lt. Charlie Revels of the Robeson County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Crystal Cummings, 27, was driving along the 800 block of Milk Dairy Road toward N.C. Highway 71 when someone shot at her around 6:45 p.m. Friday, Sheriff Kenneth Sealey said. A bullet came through the driver's side window and struck her.

Cummings died Monday at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Investigators said they think the shooting was gang-related, and that Cummings was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Revels said they have a suspect in mind, but no arrests have been made.
