Robeson County Sheriff: 70-year-old woman assaulted, robbed at home

A 70-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed at her home Tuesday morning, according to the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.

FAIRMONT, N.C. — A 70-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed at her home Tuesday morning, according to the Robeson County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said they were called to the 300 block of Hedgepeth Road just before noon in reference to a robbery. They found a 70-year-old woman who had been assaulted and robbed.

The woman told deputies she was at her front door when two unknown suspects approached her from behind. The victim stated she was forced into her residence, tied up and money was demanded by the suspects. The victim was able to get free after the suspects left the residence.

The suspects stole money, firearms and jewelry during the robbery. The suspects were wearing all black, gloves and had their faces covered up, the victim told deputies.
