— Robeson County sheriff's deputies captured an escaped inmate Friday and returned him to custody at the Robeson Correctional Center.

Rodney Nealy, a minimum-custody inmate, was on work release as an electrical engineer when he drove away Thursday in a light blue Ford Econoline van with North Carolina plates YSX-3275. He was apprehended Friday after about 24 hours on the loose.

Nealy was serving six-to-seven years for a string of financial crimes, including forgery and larceny. He will now face an escape charge and possibly other charges, according to Department of Correction spokeswoman Pamela Walker.
