A Robeson County child struck by a tire from a tractor-trailer has died.

<b>SHANNON, N.C.</b> — A Robeson County child struck by a tire from a tractor-trailer has died.

The state Highway Patrol said a truck blew a tire while traveling along N.C. Highway 71 in Shannon on Wednesday night.

The tire blew off the rim and skidded into the yard of a home where 3-year-old Dillon Andrades was playing, troopers said.

After being hit by the tire, the boy was transported to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill for treatment.  He died Friday from his injuries, officials said.

The driver of the truck will not face charges, troopers said.
